Pageant spaces are a platform to groom young leaders, they are a stepping stone to creating change within our communities. The United Nations pageant affords this opportunity to kids, teens, Mr and Miss. Working with institutions in pageantry that don’t just cater to the girl child and the female pageant hopeful, is something we take pride in as Stride Institute. Pageants are a platform for change and in South Africa with the rife femicide we believe it is important to build both genders and equip them for platforms like this.
We offered a workshop that focused on confidence and prepared the finalists across all categories they are judged in. Public speaking is a fear for many individuals in society, so we curated a workshop that focused on building the confidence of the United Nations Pageant finalists.
As a Former Miss Mamelodi Sundowns 2018 , our director Thulani Ndzotyana was honoured to be part of the panel of judges for the Gauteng Province. Miss Mamelodi Sundowns celebrates
10 years of empowering women across the country. In 2018 Thulani became the youngest Miss Mamelodi Sundowns at 19 years and served as the brand's first Eastern Cape national winner. She personified the spirit of the yellow nations queen during her year, it was through the work she did as a Miss Mamelodi Sundowns in the schools of Tshwane township districts that she realized wearing the yellow sash enables one to empower others. She continues to use Stride Institute as an instrument in bringing about the transformation needed for youth development in South Africa.
Stride Institute seeks to empower the next South African Generation of leadership. The core of principles of Stride Institute seek to build and restore confidence of the demoralized youth. We know the power of how confidence can create opportunities. Pageant spaces have created community awareness in the CSI’s they often seek to get their finalists involved in, this is why we ensure that in training pageant hopefuls they are equipped to use their voice to bring about change. The modelling industry needs models with thick skin and personalities who are informed about their rights. This is why as Stride Institute we felt it necessary to start by empowering young model hopefuls from Gqebera. The director Thuli Ndzotyana grew up in New Brighton and started her modelling journey in this environment. She recognizes the gap in knowledge that is provided from smaller cities and towns like this, regarding the industry.
We chose to launch Stride Institute on the principles it was built on, by validating the STRIDES of others and equipping them with industry ready knowledge. We will continue guiding and supporting the Strides of our STRIDERS.
In the spirit of the significant South African celebration of Freedom Day. As Stride Institute we are rooted in our South African heritage. We believe this institution will breed future leaders.
Our Freedom to Blossom workshop was a call to action for young South Africans to channel their inner greatness.
